Wendell seeks military photos
The town of Wendell is seeking photos of active and retired military members for a ceremony honoring their service during the Fourth of July celebration. The American Legion and several area churches are assisting in collecting the photos. A third collection point has been added: Allison Rice at the Wendell Planning Department at the town office, 15 E. 4th Street.
Photos may be picked up at the same point they are dropped off after they are scanned for the display. The following information is requested: Name of veteran, branch of military service and years or era in service (for example, 1959-1961, Korean War, Vietnam). If a photo in uniform is not available, submit name, dates of service and service branch, and that information will be included in the display. Photos requested by Monday, June 16.
Sons of Confederate Veterans

High School Credential Program
Wake Tech Community College will hold High School Credential Program (formerly GED Program) informational sessions at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, and 6 p.m. Thursday, June 19. Only one session must be attended. Sessions will last 45 minutes and will take place at the Eastern Wake Education Center, 519 Industrial Drive, Zebulon.

Camp I Can
Camp I Can will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 16 through July 10, at Todd’s Recreation Center, 1300 Mack Todd Road, Zebulon. The camp is designed to promote character building traits and academic readiness among low-income youth in eastern Wake County. The weekly fee is $30 per student. 4-H camp week
Wake County 4-H offers youth ages 8-14 the opportunity to camp at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center in Reidsville, N.C. June 22-27 and experience traditional camp activities such as swimming, archery, horseback riding, canoeing, outdoor living skills and more. Mini-Doodler (3 and a half to 5 years old) will be offered from 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday and 4-4:45 p.m. Thursday. Doodler (5 and a half to 12 years old) will be offered from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday.
