Zebulon firefighters Trey Byrd and Phillip Brown recently produced a patriotic addition to the local fire station.
The two constructed this American Flag out of fire hose that failed the department’s annual tests, and was otherwise going to be thrown away.
“I showed Chief (Chris Perry) pictures of a finished hose-flag project, and he was all for it,” Byrd said.
Strips of hose were fastened to a sheet of plywood and the firefighters did the painting by hand, stars and all.
“It’s the light stuff like that that makes everyone enjoy coming to work with a station pride – the boost of morale,” Byrd added.
