C.B. Aycock (3-1) at Corinth Holders (2-2), 7:30
Both teams are on two-game win streaks entering this one. The Golden Falcons are a touchdown away from being 4-0. (A 27-20 loss to Greene Central is their only number on the right side of the W-L ledger.)
Corinth Holders has found its scoring touch in the past two games, establishing a very balanced rushing and passing attack. The Pirates ran for 258 and threw for 244 in their big win over Bunn last week, for example.
Never miss a local story.

Local standouts, teams among the area leaders
East Wake maintained its No. 11 spot in the News & Observer’s area rankings after Friday’s 34-29 over No. 13 Heritage, which also stayed in the same position despite the loss to the Warriors.
The Warriors are among three Greater Neuse River 4A Conference teams to start the season 3-1, alongside Clayton, Garner and West Johnston. No Greater Neuse team is undefeated. Knightdale (2-2) is the only other team at or above the .500 mark through four weeks.
Things get interesting as league play begins Sept. 26, following this Friday’s open date for all local 4A teams. East Wake plays at Garner and Knightdale hosts West Johnston.
East Wake’s Quincy Jackson remains the area’s top receiver despite missing the past two games with an injured thumb. He averaged 153.5 yards and hauled in three touchdowns over the first two weeks. That’s an average of 46 yards ahead of the rest of the area receiving leaders, including those who played all four weeks.
Jackson’s assist man, quarterback Tripp Harrington, is 6th in the area in passing (202.2 yards per game) and is also a leader in passing efficiency with nine touchdowns against five interceptions.
Warriors running back Damontay Rhem is 8th out of area rushing leaders, much thanks to a 226-yard performance against Heritage on Friday. In four games, Rhem has gained 548 yards (137 per game) and stomped his way into the end zone three times. He also had a receiving touchdown in week one.
