Athletic open house
Knightdale High School will host an athletic open house at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 29, at 100 Bryan Chalk Lane, Knightdale.
Coaches will be on hand passing out information about their sports including tryout dates, summer workout calendars and summer camp information. Cost per physical is $15.

Golf tournament upcoming
Wendell Country Club, 180 Jake May Drive in Wendell, plans to hold a modified superball golf tournament Saturday and Sunday, May 31 and June 1.
The 36-hole event will be flighted after the first round. Each round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Teams will play the best ball off the tee then count two balls through the hole.
The field is open to the first 120 players or 30 four-player teams. The cost is $75 per player or $300 per team. Practice rounds can be played between Monday, May 26, and Friday, May 30 with a $12 cart fee.

Youth golf season begins
Free youth golf clinics are held 5-6:30 p.m. on Thursdays at Zebulon Country Club, 2424 Pearces Road, at the practice facility near the A-frame building.
Also, registration is now open for Zebulon’s team in the Eastern N.C. Junior Golf League. The clinics and team are organized by Rocky Winstead and coached by Peyton Windley and Emily Stallings, and several other high school golfers who have come up through the program.

Towns hold fitness classes
The cost is $5 per class for adults. Children age 15 or younger can attend for $3 or for free if accompanied by an adult.
Katandi West African rhythmic movement connects with the rhythms of African drums while learning fundamental and traditional movements derived from Guinea, Mali and Senegal.
Kindertot, for 2-year-olds, meets Thursdays from 3-3:30 p.m. at a cost of $35 per month (four sessions). The program is designed to develop gross motor skills, movement creativity, physical development and body awareness, while learning numbers, colors, shapes and songs.
Kinderdance, for ages 3-5, meets Wednesdays from 6:30-7:15 p.m. at a cost of $42 per session. This is a developmental dance, movement and fitness program taught on three levels. It teaches the basics of ballet, tap, acrobatics and creative movement while blending educational concepts.

The class, instructed by Amy Scaggs, consists of age-appropriate exercises (cardio and body weight muscle work), games that include moving and a short lesson on healthy eating.
There is a five-child minimum and 12-child maximum for the classes, which will meet Thursdays from 4-5 p.m. The cost per month is $15 for residents and $20 for nonresidents.
Strength training is offered Thursdays at 9 a.m. and trekking meets Tuesdays at 9 a.m. Use your get fit pass or pay $5 per class.
Children ages 7-12 can take part in open gym on Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for $1 per visit. Open gym for youth ages 13-17 is Wednesdays from 4-5:30 p.m. for $1 per visit. And open gym for adults 18 and older is offered on Tuesdays from 6:30-8 p.m. at a cost of $2 for residents and $3 for nonresidents.
