Eagles’ postseason winds down
East Wake Academy had two spring teams compete in the NCHSAA 1A playoffs last Wednesday. Both the Eagles girls soccer and softball teams saw their seasons conclude in the first round.
The No. 20 seed girls soccer team (11-12) fell victim to No. 13 Rosewood, 5-1, in Goldsboro.
In softball, the No. 12 seed Camden County dismissed No. 21 East Wake Academy with a 17-0 victory. The Eagles finished the season with a 5-10 mark.
Upcoming football opportunities
▪ The Knightdale Knights youth football organization plans to host football camp on May 30-31 and June 6-7, from 4-7 p.m. each day. This is a non-contact camp and is open to all children ages 5-12. The camp will take place at Knightdale Elementary School, 109 Ridge St., Knightdale. The cost of $20 covers a meal and a T-shirt on the final day of camp. ▪ Registration is now open for the Knightdale Dragons Pop Warner football and cheer and dance season. The organization welcomes players and cheerleaders ages 5-15. Practices begin Aug. 1 at Good Hope Baptist Church on Smithfield Road and games will follow starting Aug. 29. All home games are played at East Wake Middle School. Tarheel Seniors Golf Association
The Tarheel Seniors Golf Association will hold 16 events this year across the area this spring and summer with events at The Neuse, River Ridge, Falls Village, Bentwinds, 12 Oaks, Zebulon Country Club, Lochmere, Devils Ridge and Eagle Ridge. Entry fees are $30-40 per event, which are usually held on Mondays. Four flights of play are offered. Real Heroes Wrestling Club
Local high school wrestling coach Kristian Stewart is resuming the Real Heroes Wrestling Club in Johnston County. The club is for kids of all ages interested in amateur wrestling in N.C.
