Why Limestone University? “It’s not too close to home, but is just far enough to where if I need to come home I can,” Bobby said. “Campus is great, it’s beautiful. Everyone is helpful there.”
Most memorable: Among Bobby’s top memories are winning the Greater Neuse River 4A Conference title at 132 pounds as a junior. He also had good times playing wall ball with Tramal Turner, the Knights’ 106-pound wrestler. “Definitely not cutting weight,” he said when asked about memorable times at Knightdale. Bobby said he really enjoyed the time in-between matches and talking to people. “It was just relaxing and got my mind off my next opponent,” he said. “It just keeps you from over thinking and makes you go out there and do what you do.”
Notable: Bobby wrestled three solid years at Knightdale. But he first started wrestling at the age of 4 and has wrestled 11 of the past 14 years. He wrestled at the club level for Capital City Wrestling Club. ... He was a three-time All Conference selection – from his sophomore through senior years.
Knightdale coach Jermod Mapp: “Bobby brought consistency. We knew exactly what we were going to get from Bobby and knew we could lean on him. I think Bobby is going to do great on the collegiate level. He’s already in the weight room working out and adding muscle right now and I don’t think anyone out there is working harder than him at this time.”
