November’s “Taste of Carolina Cuisine,” the annual major fundraiser of the Woman’s Club of Clayton, turns 10 years old Nov. 7.
The even showcases the best food from 13 local restaurants and—since last year—specialty beer from a local brewery.
Taste of Carolina runs from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St. Tickets are $35. Cost of beer is $3, and wine is $4. Those attending have a chance to sample taste-size portions from the menus of the 13 restaurants. Serving is 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The popular dining event also features a silent auction of about 75 items, including a handbuilt wooden toy train. All may be viewed and bid on from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Restaurants will compete for eight awards during the evening—“Best Presentation,” “Best Original Dish,” “Best Seasonal Dish,” “Best Pasta Dish,” “Best Use of Local Ingredients,” “Best Dessert” and “People’s Choice, 1st and 2nd.”
Judges from Wake Technical College Culinary School will choose the six “Best” awards. Ticketholders will vote on the two “People’s Choices.”
All funds raised by this event remain within the community and go to local groups and causes supported by the Woman’s Club.
