Christmas time is right around the corner and the town of Garner is getting into the holiday spirit.
The town will hold its two annual Christmas events this weekend.
On Friday Dec. 4, the town will have its annual Christmas tree lighting, called Light Up Main. It will be on Main Street and Mayor Ronnie Williams and Santa Claus will turn on the Christmas tree.
The event will also feature dancers and singers from Garner in a talent showcase.
Light Up Main will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On Saturday Dec. 5, Garner will have its annual Christmas parade in downtown Garner. The event will start at 2 p.m. This year’s parade theme is “Home for the Holidays,” a celebration of home and family.
On average, about 6,000 people attend Garner’s celebration.
In the parade will be local dance troops, church choirs, the town council, mayor, high school bands, beauty queens, local singers and finally Santa Claus.
