The Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield will hold four free programs to help high school students prepare for the SAT and ACT college admissions tests, and write their application essay. • Saturday, Sept. 20: an SAT Challenge test will be held at 10 a.m., and an ACT Challenge test will be held at noon. The 10-question challenges are designed to help students get ready with sample test questions, test timing and pacing and score raising strategies.
• 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25: The combination SAT/ACT practice test will begin at 9:30 a.m. Students must arrive by 9 a.m. The test will help students get a feel for the questions and experience exam-like conditions.
