The Johnston County Arts Council is accepting applications for the North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program subgrants until 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug.15.
The state’s Grassroots Arts Program provides funding for the arts in all 100 counties in North Carolina and is open to Johnston County nonprofit groups that promote and develop cultural-arts programming. Priority goes to theater groups, galleries, choral societies, festivals and arts-in-education programs.
Grants are available for non-profit organizations that promote and develop diverse cultural arts programming in Johnston County. Projects must occur between July 1, 2013 and May 30, 2014.

The Arts Council is hosting a workshop 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at 312 South Third St., Smithfield. During the workshop interested applicants will get advice on how to prepare for competitive grants.
