Art Festival to kick off

The Johnston County Arts Council is preparing to host its Fifth Annual Art and Food Festival Gala Thursday, March 6.

The Johnston County Arts Council is preparing to host its fifth annual Art and Food Festival Gala at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Johnston County Agricultural Auditorium.

The fundraiser will generate money to assist the arts council with funding for the 2014 Artists-in-the-Schools program, in providing scholarships for Johnston Community College students studying fine arts, and free community programming.

Tickets are $40 each or two for $75, and attendees will be treated to sample dishes from Johnston County’s finest restaurants. Participating restaurants will be vying for Best Presentation, Best Entrée and Best Dessert. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award for the Best Restaurant.

The results of the Johnston County Arts Council juried art show featuring local artists will also be announced at the Art and Food Festival. Local artwork will be on display and available for purchase from Johnston County’s most talented visual artists.

A silent auction featuring a collaborative painting of Atkinson’s Mill painted by JCAC donors will be one of the highlights of the evening.

Music for the evening will be provided by pianist Earl Worley, Jr, violinist Molly Olah and guitarist and singer Bruce Naegelen.

To attend the event or to request additional information on the Johnston County Arts Council Art and Food Festival, please contact Darlene Williford at 919-938-0306 or info@jcartscouncil.org.
