The 1947 senior class of Cleveland School held its 67-year reunion at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church May 17. The fellowship hall was decorated in blue and white with each table boasting beautiful centerpieces including flowers from the hostess’s own yard.
The commencement of the reunion began with president Barbara Ennis calling the meeting to order by distributing letters and cards from those members who were unable to attend this year. She also shared stories about Cleveland School from years past and the wonderful memories they had all bonded over as classmates.
Twenty members of the class of 1947 have passed away, and they were remembered at a memorial table arranged by Ennis. There was a display of homegrown peonies, and candles were lit in remembrance of these classmates. A special moment of silence was held during the meeting for all of the deceased.
Bruce Coats offered a blessing before the meal and after everyone was seated and began eating, treasurer Lou Johnson’s daughter, granddaughters and close friend serenaded the group with some medleys and hymns for the entertainment portion of the gathering.
