The Center Stage School of Performing Arts Dance Teams recently completed their competition season by competing at Dance Machine Nationals June 25-28 in Wilkesboro.
At Nationals, Center Stage School of Performing Arts senior dancer Benji Martin won the America's Mr. Dance 2014 title, and placed first overall in the senior solo intermediate division with a diamond adjudication (the highest score dancers can earn). Tap trio Mackenzie Penny, Hannah Poplin and Gretchen Sargent won high platinum, first overall in the petite trio intermediate division, and Kailee Midgette won high platinum, first overall Mini Soloist in the recreational division, and the interview award in the Petite Miss Dance title competition.
The combined junior and senior clogging teams received a diamond, second overall in the intermediate large group junior division The mini tap and clogging teams both received platinums and placed fifth and sixth overall in the intermediate petite small groups division. The junior clogging and tap teams both received high platinums and placed second and third overall in the intermediate junior small groups division.
The junior jazz team received a high platinum first overall in the intermediate teen small groups division. The combined junior and senior jazz teams received a diamond third overall in the intermediate teen large groups division. The senior tap team received a high platinum fifth overall in the intermediate senior division. The senior clogging team received a diamond first overall in the intermediate, small groups senior division, followed with a diamond second overall for the senior jazz team in the large groups division, followed by a high platinum fourth overall for the combined junior and senior jazz teams. The senior clogging team also won the overall Crowd Pleaser Award.
