Community Health Fair
A community Health Fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 15772 N.C. 50 North, Garner. Free health services will be provided, including blood pressure checks, hormone balancing consultations, diabetes testing, posture and scoliosis screenings and more. The event will also feature puppy adoptions from RUFF pet rescue and fire trucks for kids to explore. Proceeds will benefit the church’s youth group mission trips. Delta Sigma Theta pageant
Delta Sigma Theta will host a pageant titled “An Evening of Excellence with Cultured Pearls” at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Clayton. Seven young women from local high schools will compete for the title “Miss Jabberwock 2013.” The event will be the finale of six months of fundraising, which will benefit the participants’ college educations.

American Legion Riders Post 232 will hold a barbecue dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10225, 1706 W. Garner Road, Garner.
