Chandler Williams is handy with a rifle it would seem.
The 5-year-old Clayton boy took second place in the Youth Division of the Big Buck Round-up,” a hunting tournament sponsored by the Kenansville Lions Club.
The son of Jason and Beth Williams of Clayton bagged a 79.3 lb. doe to claim one of the top spots in the tournament. His deer was also good enough for sixth place overall in the doe division among the 318 hunters who signed up for the two-day event. Williams was the youngest hunter in the tournament, which is the largest deer hunting tournament in the state.
The doe was also Chandler’s first harvest. He was hunting with his father and his grandfather, Murray Williams, who was the tournament’s grand prize winner in 2014.
