Horse show clinic
Blaine McLaughlin Stables will host a horse show clinic March 28 at the Johnston County Livestock Arena, 1503 County Home Road, Smithfield. Frank Creech Art Gallery
The Frank Creech Art Gallery is presenting two new exhibitions through April 9.
▪ On display in the main gallery will be recent works of the Johnston Community College Quilting Class.
▪ On display in the lobby is the work of freelance writer and illustrator, Emily Wallace.
The Frank Creech Art Gallery is located on the campus of Johnston Community College, 245 College Rd., Smithfield. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Relay for Life fundraiser
An all-you-can-eat pancake supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 27 at First Presbyerian Church, 5-3 Lakeside Drive, Garner. Tickets cost $7 for adults; $3 for children 12 and under. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Relay for Life.
Easter Egg hunts
▪ The Town of Garner will hold the annual Spring Eggstravaganza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Lake Benson Park, 921 Buffaloe Rd., Garner. There will be activities for kids of all ages at this free event.
▪ The Laurels of Forest Glenn will hold an Easter Eggstravaganza from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 3, at 1101 Hartwell St., Garner. Three Easter egg hunts begin at 1:30 and will be separated by age (5 and under, 6-8 and 9-12). Other activities include face painting, animal balloons, crafts and games
Yard Sale and Fish Fry

Johnston Community College's Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center will hold its annual Howell Woodstock from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 18. Howell Woodstock offers many free activities for the family including fishing, hayrides, environmental educational programs, stargazing, nature walks, live music, and a bonfire. Aversboro Run Club
Aversboro Run Club meets at 6 p.m. every Thursday outside Aversboro Restaurant & Sports Bar, 1411 Aversboro Road, Garner. The club is open to every runner and walker, and runs set routes of 3, 4 and 5 miles covering many paces. The restaurant offers food and drink specials to all walkers and runners upon their return.
A food pantry is open from 9 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of each month at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 1082 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. The food is free to anyone presenting an ID card. For more information, call 919-934-0213.
Partnership for Children of Johnston County offers two programs for parents with young children.
Motheread is a 12-week self-paced program that combines the teaching of literacy skills with child development and family empowerment issues.
The Incredible Years parent program offers weekly group sessions for 14 to 16 weeks. Participants practice skills to promote children’s academic, social and emotional skills.

Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Chapter 0678 meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at The Garner Senior Center, 205 E. Garner Rd., Garner. The purpose of the group is to provide support, share information about healthy living and celebrate success with weight loss. Participants must pay $32 for yearly national dues and $3 monthly local dues.
