The Alzheimer’s Association is sponsoring Reflections on the Art of Love: A Candlelight Ceremony. It will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the City of Raleigh Museum. Light refreshments will be provided at 5:30 p.m. The event honors those living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias, as well as families and friends who have taken roles as caregivers. Garner Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Christmas events
▪ Light up Main, the town’s annual Christmas tree lighting, takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, on Main Street. Santa and Mayor Ronnie Williams will flip the switch to the Town tree, welcoming guests to the event. This will be followed by a local holiday talent showcase full of singers and dancers from the Garner area.

▪ The Garner Christmas parade is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. Marching bands, floats, classic cars, Santa Claus and many other entries will make their way through downtown Garner. This year’s parade theme is “Home For the Holidays,” a celebration of home and family.

Christmas in Clayton
The Christmas in Clayton Art and Homes Tour is from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. The event features six homes and 16 local artists. Tickets are $10. The Garner Magnet High School PTSA will sponsor its fifth annual Holiday Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the high school, 2101 Spring Drive, Garner. Over 120 vendors will be selling Christmas gifts, homemade crafts, food items and Trojan apparel. Breakfast, lunch and pictures with Santa will also be available.
TOPS Chapter 0678
Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Chapter 0678 meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays at The Garner Senior Center, 205 E. Garner Road, Garner. The purpose of the group is to provide support, share information about healthy living and celebrate success with weight loss. Participants must pay $32 for yearly national dues and $3 monthly local dues.
Johnston County MS Support Group
The Johnston County MS Support Group meets at 11 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at The Church at Clayton Crossings, 11407 US Hwy 70 W. Clayton. The group is open to those dealing with MS and their families and is free of charge.

Partnership for Children of Johnston County offers two programs for parents with young children.
Motheread is a 12-week self-paced program that combines the teaching of literacy skills with child development and family empowerment issues.
The Incredible Years parent program offers weekly group sessions for 14 to 16 weeks. Participants practice skills to promote children’s academic, social and emotional skills.
