High School: Wake Christian
Parents: Steve and Linda Johnson
Why Louisburg? “It’s a great school with a successful athletic program and their transfer rate is really high.”
Notable: Dana is a four-year letter winner for the WCA cross country team. She has a top 10 finish in the state meet to her credit. Dana is a two-year member of the varsity basketball team and a four-year varsity career as a defender in soccer. College athletics runs in her family. Her father, Steve, attended the University of Connecticut on a swimming scholarship. Dana is excited about working to build Louisburg’s new cross country program with coach Jay Koloseus. The school has a 98 percent transfer success rate to four-year schools, which is the path Dana, an Algebra II Honors award winner at WCA, is following.
Louisburg College coach Jay Koloseus: “I am immensely excited about Dana joining Louisburg cross country next fall. Her accomplishments in high school show how great of an athlete she is and the amazing potential she has. Her best days of running surely lay ahead. As she makes the transition from a multi-sport athlete to dedicate herself to distance running I am certain she will grow into an awesome student-athlete in college.”
