Free Tennis Clinics
Free tennis clinics with Smithfield-Selma High tennis coach James Reid will be held June 11 and July 9 in Smithfield. The June 11 clinic is for ages 5-at the Smith Collins Park tennis courts. The July 9 clinic is a family tennis day at the Smithfield Community Park courts. Both clinics start at 9 a.m. and run for 90 minutes. Some racquets will be available for use.
N.C. State Coaches Caravan
The Wolfpack Club Coaches Caravan will make an area stop in Wilson on Wednesday, May 18. The event will feature appearances by State coaches Dave Doreen, Mark Gottfried and Wes Moore and will be held at the Wilson County Agriculture Center at 11:45 a.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for ages 12 and under. JUSA starting Academy program for U9, U10 age groups
The Johnston United Soccer Association is announcing the JUSA Academy program for U9 and U10 programs. The Academy program keeps the focus on individual development with no scores, results or standings in the academy program. Players will be able to shift from team-to-team to match their level of development and progress. All players are part of the Academy team and not an individual unit in the Academy. Sprint Triathlon training

Deacon Jones RAM Pro-Am
The inaugural Deacon Jones RAM Pro-Am tournament will be held on at 11 a.m. on May 13 at the Country Club of Johnston County. The event will consist of one best ball net and one best ball gross combined from teams with one pro and three amateurs. Neal Lancaster and Gus Ulrich are among the pros scheduled to compete. The event will help fund the start of a First Tee of the Triangle program for Johnston County. The entry fee is $65 for pros and amateurs. Contact the Country Club at 919-934-4544. 2016 Clayton 5K Road Race
The 2016 Clayton 5K Road Race will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, in downtown Clayton. Awards will go to the first three finishers in six age groups. Ribbons will be awarded to all participants in the 0.1-mile Tot Trot. Register at the Clayton Community Center or online at townofclayton.org. Garner High Athletic Hall of Fame Golf Tournament
The annual Garner Trojan Club Hall of Fame Superball Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, May 6, at River Ridge. The event begins with an 11 a.m. shotgun start and the fee is $75 per person, which covers all golf fees, a BBQ dinner and prize eligibility. Mulligan packages will be available for $15. Clayton Comet Cheerleading Camp
The Clayton Comet Cheerleading Camp will be held June 4-5 at Clayton High School. The camp is open to girls and boys ages 6-14, is from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on June 4 and from 1-4 p.m. on June 5. Lifeguard training classes in Smithfield
The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department will be offering American Red Cross Lifeguard Training this spring. Participants must be at least 15 years old, pass a pre-course swim test, attend 100 percent of the classes in your session, and not mix sessions. The fee is $200-225. (A non-refundable deposit of $25 is due with each application.) Contact the SRAC for swim test requirements.
Class dates are: Monday, May 9, 5-7 p.m.; Friday, May 13, 3-8 p.m.; Saturday, May 14, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.; and Sunday, May 15, 1-7 p.m.

Piedmont Bass Classics tournaments
The Piedmont Bass Classics tournament trail fishing events have been set for the 2016 season and run from March through June. Events are held at Shearon Harris, Jordan, Kerr, Falls and Mayo lakes. The PBC Spring Opens and Invitational tournaments start Feb. 27 at Shearon Harris and run through June. New this year are events for boats with 150 horsepower or less and aluminum boats with 115 horsepower or less.
