The city will host an open house Monday so residents can weigh in on the East Cabarrus Green Street Project.
Cabarrus Street is slated as a potential “Green Street” in Raleigh’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan. East Cabarrus earned a high ranking last year among streetscape projects because of pedestrian safety and its proximity to the heart of downtown.
City leaders have started work on a draft streetscape plan for the area, which stretches from Wilmington to Swain streets downtown and the East Raleigh-South Park Historic District.
The Green Street Project will focus on pedestrian safety upgrades and the installation of green infrastructure to improve water quality.
The open house is set for 6 p.m. Monday at the John P. “Top” Greene Community Center, 401 Martin Luther King Blvd.
