There are nearly 10000 acres of public parks in Raleigh, the the Parks and Recreation department wants you to get outside and visit them. But first, they want you to take a picture.

Raleigh Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the #TagURIt Contest, a photo and video competition, to celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month. According to the contest website, all types of submissions will be accepted, including those featuring friends and family, park scenes and activities, and yes, even selfies.

“We want to highlight the parks system that we have right in our backyard,” Kellee Beach of the Recreation and Cultural Resources Department said. She added that the department celebrates National Parks and Recreation Month every year, and the contest this year is focused on using social media to promote the parks.

Both locals and visitors can enter, and can submit as many entries as they like, as long as they are taken in a city park. The rules specify that organizers are looking for “videos and images that capture an inspiring, fun or special moment in a Raleigh park.” A panel of judges, who are yet to be determined, will choose four entries to receive prizes. According to Kellee Beach of the Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, the criteria will depend on the number and nature of the submissions. The grand prize winner will receive a GoPro Camera, while the others will receive REI or Dick’s Sporting Goods gift cards. To enter the contest, park visitors can upload their submissions to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest with the tag #TagURIt. The competition began on July 1 and will end at midnight on July 31.
