A group of bug enthusiasts at N.C. State University recently proved that college students will, in fact, eat anything.
Tuesday night, dozens of students sampled chocolate grasshoppers, mealworm hushpuppies and wax moth Rice Krispies at a so-called Insect Cafe, which sets up in Fountain Dining Hall at the end of each semester.
The event has been put on by the Entomology Department for longer than anyone can seem to remember – 15, maybe 20 years, but always during finals to provide a much-needed distraction.
Dr. John Ambrose and a few volunteers convinced students to be brave and try the strange delicacies.
