Get to know him: Freddie, a 2-year-old, 50-pound basset hound and coonhound mix, is available for adoption through Carolina Basset Hound Rescue. He is a lovable dog that is shy around people at first but quickly warms up to them. He is housebroken and knows how to sit, stay and walk on a leash. He loves to run in the yard and play with his rope toy.
For more information: CBHR is a volunteer-staffed, nonprofit organization that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes unwanted basset hounds in North Carolina and South Carolina. To see Freddie or more than 50 bassets available through the group or to fill out an adoption application, go to cbhr.com/adopt. Adoption fees range from $100 to $250 to help offset costs. Because of the high number of dogs in need of rescue from kill shelters, CBHR is unable to accept dogs turned in by owner at this time.
