Aviation art accepting entries

The 2014 N.C. Aviation Art Contest is seeking entries. The deadline is Jan. 17. Participants ages 6-17 may enter two-dimensional artwork using permanent media depicting airplanes surveying disaster zones, dropping off relief supplies, flying crash victims, and other similar activities. Contemporary South art exhibition

The art exhibition “Contemporary South” is open to all artists in the Southeast region. The show will highlight contemporary artwork from across the South. There is no theme, and there are no media restrictions. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Entry fees are $10 per piece for members, $15 for nonmembers. Senior exhibition

The Frankie G. Weems Art Gallery will present “Syn-the-sys: Senior Exhibition, Fall 2013” through Dec. 3 at Meredith College. The exhibition showcases the work of two art education majors, Kristen Piner and Clarke Glendenning. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday 2-5 p.m.

Bob Rankin exhibition

TRIG Modern, 328 W. Jones St., Raleigh, has opened the exhibition “Surface Expansion” by Bob Rankin, an award-winning acrylic artist, and it will remain on display through Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Betty Adams retrospective

The art exhibit “Betty Adams, a Retrospective: Her Joy and Discovery Creating Art” will take place through December at Roundabout Art Collective, 305 Oberlin Road, Raleigh.
