‘Contemporary South’ art exhibition
The art exhibition “Contemporary South” is open to all artists in the Southeast region. The show will highlight contemporary artwork from across the South. National Arts Program exhibition
The 11th annual National Arts Program exhibition, featuring artwork by City of Raleigh and Wake County employees and their families, will be on display Thursday, Dec. 5, through Wednesay, Jan. 15, at the Miriam Preston Block Art Gallery, 222 W. Hargett St., Raleigh. An opening reception will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, with a performance by Piedmont Laureate John Claude Bemis. Refreshments will be provided. Betty Adams retrospective
The art exhibit “Betty Adams, a Retrospective: Her Joy and Discovery Creating Art” will take place through December at Roundabout Art Collective, 305 Oberlin Road, Raleigh. Boylan Heights ArtWalk
The 21st annual Boylan Heights ArtWalk will take place noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, in downtown Raleigh. More than 100 artists will show and sell their work on porches and lawns and in artists’ studios. There will be a broad range of artwork from both new and well-established artists, including pottery, jewelry, prints, oils, watercolors, home accessories and more. Admission is free. The Piedmont Laureate program has reopened its call for applications from authors of short fiction for 2014. Authors must be residents of Wake, Alamance, Durham or Orange counties. Aviation art contest
The 2014 N.C. Aviation Art Contest is seeking entries. The deadline is Jan. 17.
