Upcoming exhibits at Block
A new exhibit, Imprint, opens with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Block Gallery, 222. W. Hargett St., Raleigh. Piedmont laureate Ian Finley will do a reading. The exhibit includes paintings by Susan Brabeau and photographs by Ron Flory. Also on display will be handmade textile books by Janine LeBlanc. The exhibit will close Monday, May 21.
The exhibit Music for Teacups by David Colagiovanni and Melissa Haviland will be on display at Block2, 133 Fayetteville St., Raleigh.

The second annual Heart of the Artist Community Art Festival, set for Saturday, April 28, is accepting applications from artists until Friday, March 30. Those interested in exhibiting must complete an application with two samples of work and $25 by March 30. Artists younger than 18 may enter a competition for free.
Artists may retain proceeds from sales at their booths in the festival at Wake Forest Baptist Church. Proceeds from food and beverage sales, an art raffle, 25 percent of proceeds from art sold at an “Art on a Mission” booth and designated donations will benefit hunger relief in the Wake Forest community.

Made From Scratch: The Chicken in Art
Cameron Village Regional Library is seeking submissions of chicken-inspired works to be displayed during the month of May. Professional and amateur artists of all ages are invited to submit work April 13-20 at the library, 1930 Clark Ave., Raleigh.
All work must be original and created solely by the artist; all artwork must be suitable for display in a public building frequented by persons of all ages; and no works that depict nudity, sexual acts, profanity or obscenity will be selected.
