The J.D. Lewis Multi-Purpose Center will host basketball camps through August at 2245 Garner Road, Raleigh. The camps run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 4-8, 11-15 and 18-23.

Girls’ sports camp

A girls’ sports performance camp will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Aug. 4-6 at Trinity Academy, 10224 Baileywick Road, Raleigh. The camp will include hands-on instruction on developing speed, agility and strength, while avoiding injury. The cost is $10 and covers participant T-shirt. Learn more at FullyArmored.net.

Golf tournament

Wake Forest High School’s athletic booster club will host a golf tournament to support Wake Forest High athletics at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at The Crossings, 4023 Wake Forest Highway, Durham. Registration is $75 per person or $250 per team, and is due Aug. 11. Send payment to WFHSABC, PO Box 285, Wake Forest, N.C., 27587.

Magnificient Mile Race

The ninth annual Magnificent Mile Race will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at 300 Hillsborough St., Raleigh. The event will kick off with the Competitive Mile, followed by the Recreational Mile and a pair of kids’ races: a 100-meter dash for ages 6 and under, and a 400-meter dash for 12 and under. Karate classes

Karate Kenpo classes are offered from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for youth, and 7 to 8:30 p.m. for adults, at Millbrook Exchange Park, 1905 Spring Forest Road, Raleigh. Monthly fee is $45. The instructor is Bill Parsons of the Triangle Kenpo Institute.

Pickleball open play

Play pickleball from 8 to 10 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday, and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays on the tennis courts at Flaherty Park Community Center, 1226 N. White St., Wake Forest. Pickleball is played on a badminton court with a lowered net, a perforated plastic baseball and wood paddles. It is easy to learn but can develop into a competitive game for experienced players.

Triangle Rowing Club

Triangle Rowing Club will host summer camp for ages 11-18 from 9:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Monday, Aug. 4 to Friday, Aug. 8, at Lake Wheeler Park in Raleigh. The session costs $180. For details or registration, email camp@trianglerowing.org or go to www.trianglerowing.org.

Flag football

Each year from September through November, the Wake Forest Parks and Recreation Department partners with CenterPoint Sports to offer an Adult Flag Football League.

League games are played on Sunday afternoons from mid-September through early November.

Adult basketball leagues

Wake Forest Parks and Recreation offers 4-on-4 basketball leagues for adults both Over 35 and Under 35.

Registration costs $200 per team and is held in August. The leagues run September through November with Over 35 games on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Under 35 games on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Flaherty Park Community Center.
