Wake Forest men’s hoops registration
Registration has begun for the Wake Forest Parks and Recreation Department 3-on-3 men’s basketball leagues. The leagues are split into 35-and-older and 35-and-younger age groups. Registration forms are available at Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest, and online at www.wakeforestnc.gov/parksrecreation.aspx. Play for the teams will begin in September. The entry fee for each league is $100 per team.
Registration for Dream League Basketball, an adaptive league designed for children with special needs ages 5-17, is also being offered. League play is scheduled to begin in September with games being played on Saturday mornings through October.
A participant’s eligibility is determined by his or her age on Jan. 1, 2012. A birth certificate is required for new participants. The fee is $40 for Wake Forest residents and $80 for non-residents.

Third annual Five-O Memorial Bicycle Ride
The third annual Five-O Memorial rides are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25, starting at Trek Raleigh, 10911 Raven Ridge Road, Raleigh. The event will include 50K and 100K rides along open roads in North Raleigh with rest stops and support vehicles along the route. Lunch will be provided.

Registration and gift pickup for the 100K bicycle ride will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the ride at 8. Registration and gift pickup for the 50K ride will begin at 8:30 a.m. and ride will start at 9.

North Hills 5K
The sixth annual North Hills 5K walk/run will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh. Proceeds will benefit North Raleigh Ministries’ Backpack Buddies program, which provides children with a backpack full of nutritious food each weekend. Tunnel to Towers Run
The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation Wake Forest 5K Run/Walk to honor the heroic efforts made every day by emergency responders is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, starting at the Wake Forest Fire Department 1, 420 E. Elm Ave., Wake Forest.
Cost is $26 for competitive runners, $21 for noncompetitive runners/walkers and $16 for runners/walkers ages 12 and younger.

Golf tournament for couple with cancer
A golf tournament for the benefit of Kristi and Greg Schremp, who both are undergoing treatment for cancer, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Eagle Ridge Golf Course, 565 Competition Road, Raleigh. Thirty-six four-person teams will be allowed. Cost is $300 per team and $75 for individuals.

AHCF N.C. 5K & Walk
The third annual Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood Foundation’s N.C. 5K & Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Rolesville Ballfield, 21 Redford Place Drive, Rolesville. The event includes a 5K and a 1.5 mile walk. Registration the day of the event begins at 8:30 for the 5K and 10 a.m. for the 1.5 mile walk. Registration fees are as follows: 5K run, $20 before Aug. 22 and $25 after; 1.5-mile walk, $20 before Aug. 22, $25 after. No registration fee for children 11 and younger. Wake Forest Police Golf Tournament
The annual Wake Forest Police Department Golf Tournament will begin at noon Monday, Oct. 1, at Brevofield Golf Course on Camp Kanata Road in Wake Forest.
Cost is $60 per person or $240 per team and includes the golf, lunch, snacks and dinner as well as prizes. Sponsorships are also available. Proceeds support youth programs of the police department. For more information, call 919-435-9611.
