Leesville Road (11-0)
at Middle Creek (11-1)
This second-round NCHSAA 4AA playoffs matchup will pit the Cap Eight’s conference champion against the Tri-Nine’s. Leesville Road rolled over conference opponent Heritage last Friday after just narrowly defeating the Huskies during the regular season. Middle Creek staged a come-from-behind victory over Laney to make it to Friday’s game.
N. Raleigh Christian (9-2)
at Arden Christ School (11-0)
The Knights are in the second round of the NCISAA Division II playoffs for the first time since at least 1999. North Raleigh Christian scored 21 points in the first quarter to cruise past Hickory Grove last week. Arden Christ School comes into the game undefeated and riding the best single-season record in school history.
at Garner (12-0)
The Wolverines travel to 2011 NCHSAA 4AA runner-up Garner after narrowly escaping a Wake Forest-Rolesville comeback last Friday. Wakefield also seemed unstoppable at times, stringing together an unanswered three-score third quarter. Coach Rod Sink said playing at Garner will be a challenge for Wakefield, which hasn’t been a great road team this year.
Word of God (10-1)
at Southampton (11-0)
The Rams look to defend their NCISAA eight-man championship crown for the second straight year. Southampton snapped Word of God’s three-year winning streak earlier this season. The 40-34 loss was the Rams’ only defeat of the year, but Word of God will look for a different result in the title game.
