Police said they are dropping their investigation into a 13-year-old girl’s claim that a masked man approached her on the street and forced her to take some pills.
Investigators were unable to substantiate the girl’s story, and her family asked police to stop the investigation, a town spokesman said Friday.
The girl claimed the man forced her to swallow an unknown quantity of pills near the intersection of Jones Dairy Road and Green Mountain Drive in the Bowling Green subdivision on Jan. 26.
After taking the pills, the girl ran to a nearby house for help. She was transported to WakeMed for testing.
The toxicology report showed no drugs or medications in her system.
It was one of several reports involving unknown men approaching children in Wake Forest since December, although police did not suspect it was connected to the earlier cases.
