Call for writers, photographers
The Franklin County Arts Council Writers Guild is issuing a call to writers and photographers to be considered in the 2017 issue of County Lines: A Literary Journal. For guidelines, email CountyLinesLiteraryJournal@gmail.com. Deadline for submissions is Sept. 15, 2016.
‘Mexican Artists in North Carolina’
The City of Raleigh Museum and the consulate general of Mexico are sponsoring the third annual exhibit of contemporary Mexican artists. “MEXhibit: Mexican Artists in North Carolina,” will run June 3-29 at the City of Raleigh Museum, 220 Fayetteville St., Raleigh.

Local female artists’ exhibit
Local Color Gallery will feature an exhibit by 12 local female artists from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 3, at 311 W. Martin St., Raleigh. It will feature watercolor, acrylic, oil, clay, glass and mixed media. The exhibit will run through July 30.
‘Vicki Rees: Expansion’
Tipping Paint Gallery will feature “Vicki Rees: Expansion” from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 3, at 311 W. Martin St., Raleigh. The exhibit will run through June 25.
‘Shakespeare in Hollywood’

The Franklin Arts Council will sponsor a two-part Juneteenth celebration in honor of the end of slavery in the United States:
▪ Poster and essay contest for K-12 students. For guidelines, email FCACarts@gmail.com.
▪ Outdoor concert/picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at BROAD community center, 583 Bunn Elementary School Road, Bunn. Bring a picnic lunch and chairs; alcohol is not allowed. The event is free.
Music at Midday
The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department and Wake Forest ARTS will sponsor a free music series from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Thursdays through June 2. A variety of local performers will be featured in Centennial Plaza, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest.
The “Faces” exhibit will be on display in May at Local Color Gallery, 311 W. Martin St., Raleigh.
