St. Philip Lutheran Church in North Raleigh is changing things up for the summer.
The typical three Sunday morning worship services are being combined into a single service.
“This past spring, congregation members expressed that they would like an opportunity to worship all together in one space so that people can get to know those who worship at different services,” said the Rev. Pam Northrup, senior pastor at St. Philip.
So Northrup and Marcia Klinder-Badgley, the church’s director of music ministries, developed a plan to incorporate different music styles.
Never miss a local story.
Starting June 12, Sunday worship will begin at 9:30 a.m. The June 12 and June 19 services will celebrate music that is rich in Lutheran tradition.
On June 26, the church will worship outside with camp music. The July 3 service will have a patriotic theme. Services on July 10, 17 and 24 will feature Chicago Folk. July 31 will feature a global service with the Rev. Chad Rimmer. Jazz services will be Aug. 7, 14 and 21, and Celtic services will be Aug. 28 and Sept. 4.
All services are open to visitors. Each will include a celebration of Holy Communion, and nursery care is available. There will be a fellowship opportunity immediately following each service.
