4-H teams fare well

Johnston County 4-H entered one senior team and two junior teams in the State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest at N.C. State University.

The senior team placed first overall, first in beef, fifth in meat goats and second in three categories – sheep, swine and oral reasons. Individually, senior team member Macy Massengill was first, Joy Leigh Hinnant was 11th and Skyler Tyndall was 12th.

The B junior team placed second overall, fifth in sheep, fourth in swine, third in oral reasons and second in beef. Team member Rachel Murphy placed sixth overall.

The Johnston County A team ranked fifth in swine and eighth overall.

Senior team members were Macy Massengill of Princeton, Joy Leigh Hinnant of Kenly, Skyler Tyndall of Selma and Travis Creech of Willow Spring.

Junior A team members were Kadence Overby of Micro, Brittany Beasley of Four Oaks, Justin Wood of Willow Spring and Makayla Byrd of Smithfield.

Junior B team members were Katelyn Brewer of Wendell and Sarah Allen, Travis Anderson and Rachel Murphy, all of Four Oaks.
