Wilson’s Mills police say they’ve found a 71-year-old woman who was reported missing on Thursday.
Linda Wester, who lives in Alabama, had traveled to North Carolina last week to attend her mother’s funeral in Durham, according to a Wilson’s Mills Police Department news release. She was visiting a friend in Wilson’s Mills and left her friend’s home on Wednesday to return home.
However, Wester’s family said she never made it back.
Police started searching for Wester on Thursday and found her on Saturday at a different friend’s home in Smithfield. Wilson’s Mills Police Chief David Hess said Wester had decided to relocate to Johnston County before leaving Alabama.
“Anytime someone is reported missing law enforcement focuses their resources together to locate the person,” Hess said in a statement. “Our department has been praying that Mrs. Wester would be located safely, and that prayer has been answered. I want to thank the Smithfield Police Department and the public who called our department to provide information they felt was helpful.”
