Call for artists
Clayton Visual Arts has extended the deadline for its call for artists to exhibit at The Clayton Center in 2014. The new deadline is Nov. 15. Visual artists in two-dimensional media may apply. Artists should submit a resume, four to six images of their work and a $10 nonrefundable application fee. ‘An Evening with Elvis’

‘Home for the Holidays’
Carolina Music Showcase and the Benson Foundation for the Arts will present “Home for the Holidays,” a Christmas show, Nov. 22-24 in the W.J. Barefoot Auditorium, 303 E. Church St., Benson. ‘Music Man’ at JCC

Photos, fiber art on display in Clayton
Works by photographer Rhonda Peters and fiber artist Maureen Wartski are on display this month at The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Clayton.
Peters is a retired optometrist who moved to Goldsboro in 2007 after spending most of her career in Chicago. She has been behind a camera since 1987. In 2012, she won the Clayton Art Faire Award of Excellence in photography.
Wartski, a Raleigh resident who was born in Japan, has studied art in Japan, Thailand and the United States. In addition to creating fiber art, she has written nearly 50 novels.
The exhibit runs through Dec. 1. Admission is free. The Clayton Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Art class for toddlers
Doodlebugs, an art class for children ages 18 months to 3 years, meets from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Fridays at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center, 600 Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield. Children experiment with dough, pudding, gelatin, crayons, watercolors and more. For Smithfield residents, the cost is $5 per session or $19 for four sessions.
