Rodney Atkins coming to The Farm

Millstock seeks artists

Town Square concerts
Here’s the lineup for this year’s Town Square Concert Series in Clayton:

Chorale in Clayton
The Johnston County Chorale will present its spring music, “Cinemagic,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Clayton. The show will feature songs from classic movies. Disney characters, a jazz ensemble, bluegrass and the West Johnston High School chorus will join the chorale. Art camp in Smithfield
This summer, the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department will offer Smithfield Artz Kidz Play, an art camp for children ages 5-13. The camp will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. June 22-26 in Smith-Collins Park. The cost is $2 a day or $10 for the whole week. The camp will repeat July 20-24. For more information, call 919-934-2148.
Sporting art at JCC
Works by sporting artist Gordon Allen are on display through May 7 in the Frank Creech Art Gallery at Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A reception for the artist is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. May 7.
Pottery camp at SRAC
This summer, the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department will offer a pottery camp for young people ages 8-15. The camp will meet from 9 a.m. to noon July 6-10 at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center, 600 Booker Dairy Road. The camp will repeat Aug. 3-7. The cost is $85 for Smithfield residents and $100 for nonresidents. A 25-pound bag of clay is $20.

Youth art – 9 a.m.-noon June 22-26 or Aug. 3-7 for ages 9-12. Young people will create works of art based on everyday designs and images. The fee is $70 for Clayton residents and $85 for nonresidents.
Teen art – 9 a.m.-noon July 20-24 for ages 13-17. The fee is $70 for Clayton residents and $85 for nonresidents.
Photography – 1-5 p.m. July 27-31 for ages 11-16. A professional photographer will teach the camp; young people should bring their own digital camera. The fee is $70 for Clayton residents and $85 for nonresidents.
