In his last years in Orange, he and Mary served consistently as volunteers at the Dogwood Village Nursing Home where they helped others tirelessly and were loved by so many. He exemplified helping others throughout his life.
He cherished being a father, grandfather, and great grandfather through the years. He loved any conversations about the military, especially B17s. In his last years in Orange, he enjoyed watching and feeding birds, yard work, harvesting vegetables, helping neighbors, and sharing his life with Mary, the love of his life.
