Dr. Sally Rose Rogers, PhD in Classics, died Monday July 20, 2015 in Washington, DC. Sally was born on November 10, 1948 in Smithfield, N.C. She was the first born daughter of John Patterson Rogers, Jr. (of blessed memory) and Martha Pridgen Rogers. She is also survived by her two sisters, Susan Rogers Einhorn (Marty) and Jean Rogers (George Bergantz) and her adored nephews Will and Jay Einhorn. Sally was the Valedictorian of her class at Brenau Academy. Sally received her Bachelors Degree in Classics with honors from UNC Chapel Hill, her Masters Degree in Classics from Florida State University and her Doctorate in Classics from Catholic University. Sally was a devoted Latin, classical Greek philosophy and English teacher from secondary to higher education. She also edited and researched scholarly texts for various publishers and was a lecturer at the University of Maryland.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Sally's life on August 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 301 A Street, SE, Washington, DC, 20003.
