Bessie Stanley Warren passed away peacefully on March 20, 2016. She was born on a farm in Four Oaks and lived in Smithfield all of her adult life. She was the youngest of six siblings, having had three brothers and two sisters. After a 43 yearlong career working as a branch Manager for First Citizens Bank, she retired, but did not slow down.Bessie never sat idle. If she wasn't cooking and baking, she was working in her yard, or playing bridge, or going to the mountains and beach with her grandchildren. Her chicken pastry and coconut cake are legendary, as is her Easter tree - a tree in her yard covered with so many eggs that the neighborhood elementary school spent their recess classes walking to her house to view it. She was an accomplished knitter and cross-stitcher. Her works of art are proudly displayed in her family's homes. Bessie will be remembered for her energy, kindness and generosity. She was a loyal and trustworthy friend, and a fiercely devoted mother, grandmother, and wife. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Wallace Berry Warren of Smithfield, her only child, Chip Berry Warren of Cary, and her beloved grandchildren Alexander Stanley Warren, and Kathleen Mary Warren. Visitation will be held at Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 S Pollock St, Selma, NC 27576 on Tuesday, March 22, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A service celebrating her life will be held at Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 S Pollock St, Selma, NC 27576 on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
