Girls Basketball Camp
The Smithfield Girls Basketball Camp will be held Aug. 4-7 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center. The camp is open to girls ages 7-18 and the cost is $40 (payable to William Sanders).
Pickleball in Smithfield
Pickleball will be available on Fridays through Aug. 22 from 2-4 p.m. at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center. Non-SRAC members will pay a $2 fee per session. Paddle, balls and the net will be provided. For more info, contact Tiffany at 919-934-2148, ext. 112.
Registration for fall girls volleyball for ages 9-14 (as of Oct. 15) is open until Aug. 15. The fee is $35-70.
Men’s Open Softball League
Registration for a men’s open softball league with the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Dept. is open until Aug. 15. Only 12 teams will be allowed in the league. The fee is $475 per team and is payable before the season begins. Games will start after Labor Day.
Red Devils Football Registration
Registration for youth football with the Smithfield Red Devils is now open. The Red Devils play in the Johnston County Youth Football League and games begin in September. Practices begin in mid-August. Age groups are 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 as of Aug. 1. The fee is $40-80.
Red Devils Cheerleading
Registration for youth cheerleading with the Smithfield Red Devils is now open. The Red Devils cheer at games (mostly Saturday) beginning in September. Practices begin in mid-August. This is the only time cheerleading is offered through the Parks Dept. Ages 5-12 are eligible. The fee is $25-50 and there is a uniform cost (around $50) that is bought and kept by participants.
Smithfield Cheerleading Camp
Cheerleading camp for grades 1-6 at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center is planned for July 28-30 from 9-11 a.m. The cost is $50, payable to camp director Jessica Brank. For more info email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Youth Fall Soccer
Youth fall soccer registration with the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Dept. is open until Aug. 8 for girls and boys ages 5-12 (as of Aug. 1). The fee is $35-70.
SRAC Summer Camp
Art, swimming, sports and outdoor fun will be available during the Smithfield SRAC Summer Camps for ages 5-12 during eight different weekly sessions. Camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily, July 28-Aug. 1, Aug. 4-8 and 11-15. The cost is $100-125. Children need to bring two snacks, a lunch, a swimming suit and a towel each day.
Aquatics, fitness programs
The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of aquatics classes and fitness programs. Visit SRAConline.com or call 934-1408 for more information. Yellow Jackets Cheerleading
Girls ages 6-12 (as of Aug. 1) can cheer with the Selma Yellow Jackets at football games this fall. Practices begin in August and games start in September. A $50 refundable uniform deposit is required. The fee is $25-30 (includes bloomers and socks). Register by Aug. 1.

Men’s fall softball league
Registration for a men’s adult (ages 18 and up as of June 1) softball league in Clayton is open. Games will be played at Clayton Municipal Park or Clayton Community Park. A minimum of six teams are needed for the league. The fee is $550 per team with an additional $40 fee for each non-resident of the town of Clayton on the roster. Call the Parks Dept. for more info.
Adult coed 7-on-7 soccer
The Clayton Parks and Recreation Dept. will offer a seven-on-seven adult coed soccer league later this summer for ages 18 and up (as of June 1). Games will be played on weeknights at East Clayton Community Park starting in late August and running into October. Six teams are needed for the league and there is a maximum of 12 team slots available. The fee is $350 per team, plus an additional $40 for each non-resident of the Town of Clayton on the team roster.
A Multi-sport camp featuring flag football, baseball/T-ball, basketball and soccer will be held Aug. 18-22 at the Clayton Community Center. Camp runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. This Sports Camp is for beginners, intermediate and slightly advanced athletes. These five days of camp will teach and expose an aspiring athlete to fundamental knowledge of the area’s most popular sports. Also, the camp will teach cross training activities and personal fitness exercises to best prepare your athlete for their upcoming sports seasons. The early registration fee is $115 (three weeks before camp) or $150 thereafter. Additional siblings can attend for $75 each. For info: 919-553-1550.
Fall youth sports
Registration for fall sports with the Clayton Parks and Recreation Department is now open. Fall sports are co-ed soccer (ages 4-7), softball (ages 7-14) and girls volleyball (ages 9-14). The fee is $25-60 per player. Register at the Clayton Community Center.
The Clayton Parks Dept. is looking for volunteers. Opportunities include park beautification, special events and work in our community garden.
