Clayton handed its last fellow unbeaten Greater Neuse River 4A Conference girls tennis foe a loss Wednesday, topping West Johnston 6-0 in a rain-shortened match.
The Comets (7-0 overall, 6-0 conference) have still yet to drop a individual singles or doubles conference match this season.
Top-seeded Carmelle Joyner was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over West junior Katherine Sorrell, while Comet senior Maya Guha won 6-1, 6-0 over Veronica McLean.
Katherine Riley took the No. 3 singles match for Clayton, 6-0, 6-3, over Sabrina Fink, while Comet freshman Sydney Rushing was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over West’s Sarah Kuhaneck.

West’s Carmen Juarez had the match of the day against Clayton sophomore Stephanie Wilder, but came up just short in a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) decision.
Clayton’s Hannah Kellum rolled at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1, over West’s Sabria Brown.
The Wildcats dropped to 5-1 in the conference with the loss and are 5-3 overall.
The Comets also beat East Wake 9-0 on Tuesday.
Clayton singles players didn’t drop more than a game in any match against the Warriors. In doubles, Joyner and Riley won 8-0 at No. 1, as did Wilder and Kellum at No. 3. Guha and Rushing were 8-1 winners in the other doubles match.
