Why UNCG? “It’s a great school with a great environment and I really liked the campus and the baseball program.”
Major: Computer Science
Notable: Jake is fulfilling his lifelong dream of pitching in college. He’s what a lot of colleges want: a lean, fluid left-handed pitcher with tons of potential. He throws a curveball and a changeup in addition to the usual fastball. “When the curveball is on, it’s a lot of 12-to-6 break (down in the zone),” he said. … He becomes the first baseball player at Corinth Holders to sign a Division I scholarship and is a two-year varsity starter. … He’s played first base and all of the outfield positions for the Pirates in addition to pitching. … He wants to improve his velocity and mechanics as he gets ready for his senior season at Corinth Holders.
Corinth Holders baseball coach Adam Weaver: “We always thought that Jake would be our first D-I baseball recruit here. He’s worked hard to develop a second and third pitch and it’s easy to see what colleges like in him and his potential to get even better.”
