Smithfield Red Devils football
Registration is open for Smithfield Red Devils football for ages 5-12 (as of Aug. 1). Ages 5-6 play flag football. The fee is $40 for Smithfield residents or $80 for non-Smithfield residents. Games are played in the fall beginning in September. Practice begins in August.
Smithfield Red Devils cheerleading
Registration for Smithfield Red Devils cheerleading is open for ages 5-12. The fee is $25 for Smithfield residents or $50 for others. The uniform cost will be around $50. Uniforms are purchased by cheerleaders and kept after the conculsion of the season. Games are played in the fall beginning in September. Practice begins in August.
Fall youth soccer
Fall youth soccer registration with the Smithfield Parks Dept. is open until Aug. 2. Leagues are for boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of Aug. 1). The fee is $35 for Smithfield residents or $70 for non-residents. Games are played on weeknights in the fall and an occasional Saturday. The season runs from September until the end of October.
Men’s open league softball
Registration for a men’s open softball league is open until Aug. 2. The fee is $475 per team for the 12-team league. All fees are due before the season begins. The season begins after Labor Day.
Smithfield girls volleyball
Girls volleyball for grades 4-6 is offered by the Smithfield Parks Dept. this fall. Registration is $35 for Smithfield residents and $70 for non-residents. Practices begin in September and games start later that month, then ends in early November. Sign-ups end Aug. 2.
Cheerleading camps for grades 1-5 and 6-12 will be held twice this summer. Camp for grades 6-12 is from 9 a.m. until noon, July 22-24 and costs $70 per session. Camp for grades 1-5 is from 10 a.m. until noon, June 27-28 and July 25-26 and costs $35. Camps are held at the SRAC gym and payments are to Jessica Brank.
Tennis camps for ages 5-7 and 8-14 will be held July 22-24. Camp for ages 5-7 runs from 6-7 p.m. and 8-14 camp is from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the Smithfield Community Park tennis courts. The cost is $30 for ages 5-7 or $50 for ages 8-14, payable to Doug Simmons.
Aquatics, fitness programs
The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of aquatics classes and fitness programs. Visit SRAConline.com or call 934-1408 for more information. Some of the fitness offerings include Cycling, Zumba, Hip Hop Hustle, Piyo, Turbo Kick, Total Body, Tai Chi, Inferno Cycle, P90X and Cycle Fusion. Fall Soccer Registration
Youth recreational soccer league for boys and girls ages 4-14 (as of Aug. 1) is offered by the Selma Parks Dept. This program focuses on the fundamentals of soccer and developing the future player’s team skills. Players will practice middle of August with games starting after Labor Day. Registration fees are $25-30. Register by Aug. 2.
Youth Girls Volleyball
Selma Parks and Recreation will be offering a youth Volleyball League this fall for girls in grades 4-6. Practice will start in the middle of September and games will begin the last week of September. Registration fees are $25-30. Register by Aug. 16.
Yellow Jackets Football
Join Selma Parks and Recreation for this fun contact tackle sport for boys ages 7-12 (Aug. 1). Practices will begin the first of August with games starting end of August. A $50 refundable uniform deposit is required before participants can receive their equipment and uniform. Registration fees are $10-15. Register by July 26.
Yellow Jackets Cheerleading
Girls ages 6 - 12 (as of Aug. 1) can join the cheerleading squad to cheer at Yellow Jackets football games. Squads will practice starting in beginning of August and cheer at games starting end of August. A $50 refundable uniform deposit is required before participants can receive their equipment and uniform. Registration fees are $25-30 (includes bloomers and socks). Register by July 26.
Harrison Gym open play
Practice your moves, meet your friends, stay active and spend time with your family at the Harrison Gymnasium. Drop in for basketball with no reservations necessary. The court is available on a first-come, first-served basis. You must sign in each time and present a photo ID. Play for ages 18 and over is available Sundays from 4-6 p.m. The cost is $3 per person. Play for ages 55 and older is available on Fridays from 6-8 p.m. There is no charge for the Friday session.
