Johnston County Senior Games
Registration forms are available at all Johnston County Parks and Recreation offices for the Johnston County Senior Games until Feb. 28. The Senior Games are a health and fitness program for adults age 50 and over and consists of more 30 athletic events which include cycling, cornhole, track and field, walking, bowling, bocce, golf, etc. The accompanying Silver Arts competitions include: visual (acrylics, drawing, photography, etc.), heritage (quilting, knitting, needlework, etc.), literary (essays, poems, short stories, life experiences) and performing (comedy/drama, vocal, dance, instrumental). Mudcats Job Fair is March 1
The Carolina Mudcats will host their annual Job Fair from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, inside Cattails Restaurant at Five County Stadium. There are many different positions at Five County Stadium to work during 70 home games and a handful of other events during the year. Live interviews will be conducted on site for various game-day positions. Positions are available in: food and beverage service, picnic staff, usher, parking attendant, Lady Mudcat, souvenir store cashier, stadium clean up, ticket taker, ticket seller, bat boy and video operations. Cattails Restaurant is located on the first base side of the stadium, on the fourth floor, and is accessible by the elevator or stairs behind home plate. College Prep Series junior golf event
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will open its 2014 season with the College Prep Series March 1-2 at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh. The 36-hole stroke play event will be held on Saturday, March 1, with tee times from 10 a.m. until noon and Sunday, March 2, with 8-10 a.m. tee times. Area Shrine Bowl combine
South Johnston High School will host one of five area Shrine Bowl combines for rising seniors on April 26. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., followed by drills beginning at 10 a.m. (kickers) and 11 a.m. (all other positions). Players will be measured and tested in the vertical jump, 40-yard dash, agility shuttle and bench press reps (185 pounds) and evaluated using position-specific drills. The clinics give players the chance to showcase their skills for potential scholarship offers and possible Shrine Bowl selection. The cost is $20 per player (cash only). Coaches and fans are admitted free of charge.
Johnston Horse Show Series for 2014
The Johnston County Horse Show Series dates for 2014 are set. These are open horse shows dedicated to offering a fun and exciting show that is open to all riding disciplines and equine breeds. Dates for 2014 are March 1, April 5, May 10, June 28, Aug. 9-10 (at Hunt Horse Complex, Raleigh), Sept. 20, Oct. 25 and Nov. 22. Hunter Horse Shows for 2014

Club Corp Winter Junior Golf Classics will be held Feb. 1 (Devils Ridge Golf Club, 919-557-6101) and Feb. 9 (The Neuse Golf Club, 919-550-0550). Registration is $40 per event and all begin with 2:30 p.m. shotgun starts.
Old School Prom hosted by SSS girls
Smithfield-Selma High School's girls basketball team will host an "Old School Prom Night" from 6-10 p.m. on March 8 in the SSS cafeteria to raise funds to support the program. Adults (ages 18 and up) are invited to this semi-formal event featuring dinner and entertainment.
