T-ball registration with the Selma Parks Dept. for ages 4-6 (as of May 1) is open until March 21. Practices will begin in April with games from May through June. The fee is $25-30.
Co-ed church softball league
Games in the Selma Parks and Recreation Department’s co-ed church softball league will be played Monday, Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings this spring. A double-elimination will be held at the end of the season. The team fee is $375. Register by April 4.
Young champions self-defense
A self-defense course for ages 4-18 will be offered by a certified black belt instructor from Young Champions of America Thursday nights at Harrison Gym in Selma now until June 12. The registration fee is $10 and a weekly class fee of $7. Register on-site at 5:45 p.m. for new students.
Free indoor winter walking
The Selma Parks Department offers free winter walking indoors at Harrison Gym Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. The gym is closed on all town holidays and walking ends March 14.

Lifeguard training classes
Registration for lifeguard training classes are now open for ages 15 and older. Participants must attend every class of the American Red Cross lifeguard training class. A $25 non-refundable fee is due at registration. Participants must pass a pre-course swim test that includes a 300-yard swim, treading water for two minutes and a brick retrieval swim, all under strict guidelines. Friday, Saturday and Sunday sessions are set for March 7-9, April 4-6, April 25-27 and May 16-18. The cost for the course is $175-200.
Aquatics, fitness programs
The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of aquatics classes and fitness programs. Visit SRAConline.com or call 934-1408 for more information. Some of the fitness offerings include Cycling, Zumba, Hip Hop Hustle, Piyo, Turbo Kick, Total Body, Tai Chi, Inferno Cycle, P90X and Cycle Fusion.
