Felice Hewitt to play soccer at Chowan College

Parents: Barry and Ellen Hewitt

Parents: Barry and Ellen Hewitt

High School: Corinth Holders

Club Team: Carolina Soccer Club

Also Considered: Barton College

Why Chowan? “I liked the small college feel and I just felt like they welcomed me there. The team, the coaches and faculty. It’s a place I want to be a part of.”

Major: Pre-Nursing

Notable: Felice has been a key member of the Corinth Holders girls soccer program since its inception. She has scored more than 70 goals in her career and tallied more than 30 assists. She made the all-conference team in each of her first three seasons at Corinth Holders (all-conference nods for this season haven’t gone out yet) and was all-region as well as a junior and sophomore. … She projects to play a combination of forward and midfield in college and wants to improve her speed and strength on the ball. … “The thing I’ll remember most from playing at Corinth Holders is how much we grew as a team,” she said. “We’ve pretty much always gotten along and been one big family.”

Corinth Holders coach Alison Vetterl: “I’ve coached Felice since middle school (at Archer Lodge Middle School before starting the Pirates’ program) and her leadership on and off the field has grown every season, especially the last two years. She energizes a team when she’s involved on the field. … I think her skill set really fits in well at Chowan. She’s going to work hard and be a leader for them.”
