Summer SRAC membership special
Join the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center for a limited time for $99 per individual and $75 for each qualifying family member 12 years old and up. Membership includes full access to the SRAC for three months from the day that you sign-up. Summer special registration ends June 30.
Red Devils Football Registration
Registration for youth football with the Smithfield Red Devils is open from June 16 until July 18. The Red Devils play in the Johnston County Youth Football League and games begin in September. Practices begin in mid-August. Age groups are 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 as of Aug. 1. The fee is $40-80.
Red Devils Cheerleading
Registration for youth cheerleading with the Smithfield Red Devils is open from June 16 until July 18. The Red Devils cheer at games (mostly Saturday) beginning in September. Practices begin in mid-August. This is the only time cheerleading is offered through the Parks Dept. Ages 5-12 are eligible. The fee is $25-50 and there is a uniform cost (around $50) that is bought and kept by participants.
Youth Fall Soccer
Youth fall soccer registration with the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Dept. will be open from July 7 until Aug. 8 for girls and boys ages 5-12 (as of Aug. 1). The fee is $35-70.
Smithfield Railhawks Elite Technique Training
Soccer players looking for additional elite-level off-season training can join the RailHawks Elite Technique Off-Season East program at Smithfield Community Park this summer. Training for U9-U18 players of all levels will be offered. Challenge and rec-level training will be for five sessions and Classic-level training will be offered for 10 sessions. Training will be offered until July 16 and led by Sam Stockley, director of RailHawks Elite Technique, and other members of the RailHawks coaching staff. SRAC Summer Camp
Art, swimming, sports and outdoor fun will be available during the Smithfield SRAC Summer Camps for ages 5-12 during eight different weekly sessions. Camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily, June 23-27, July 7-11, 14-18, 21-25, July 28-Aug. 1, Aug. 4-8 and 11-15. The cost is $100-125. Children need to bring two snacks, a lunch, a swimming suit and a towel each day.
Smithfield Cheerleading Camps
Cheerleading camps for grades 1-6 at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center are planned for June 23-25 and July 28-30 from 9-11 a.m. The cost is $50, payable to camp director Jessica Brank. For more info email email@example.com.
Smithfield Softball Camp
The Smithfield Softball Camp for ages 7-16 will be held from 9 a.m. until noon, June 23-26 at Smithfield Community Park. Former SSS coach and player Britney Smith will lead the camp staff. The fee is $60 per camper and payable to Coach Smith.
Spartans Baseball Camp
The Spartans Baseball Camp for ages 7-14 will be held from 9 a.m. until noon daily July 7-10 at Spartan Field on the campus of Smithfield-Selma High School. SSS athletic director and former baseball player Chase Crocker will lead the camp staff. The fee is $65 and payable to the SSS Dugout Club.
Smithfield Volleyball Camp
The Smithfield Volleyball Camp will be held July 7-10 for girls ages 8-14. Camp is from 9 a.m. until noon daily and the fee is $60 per camper. Former Clemson University player and SSS coach Kim Smith will lead the camp staff. Checks should be made out to Coach Smith.
Smithfield Soccer Camp
The Smithfield Soccer Camp for ages 5-14 will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. daily from July 14-17 at the Smithfield Community Park soccer fields. The fee is $50 per camper. Steve Brush, a nationally certified coach, will lead the camp staff, which also includes Princeton High coach Morgan Brush, a former college player, and Amber Brush, a current player at Barton. Payment should be made out to Steve Brush.
Aquatics, fitness programs
The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of aquatics classes and fitness programs. Visit SRAConline.com or call 934-1408 for more information. Some of the fitness offerings include Cycling, Zumba, Hip Hop Hustle, Piyo, Turbo Kick, Total Body, Tai Chi, Inferno Cycle, P90X and Cycle Fusion. Challenger Sports Soccer Camp
The Selma Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with Challenger Sports to provide a soccer camp for ages 6-16 from June 23-27. Camp will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Selma Middle School and the cost is $115 (includes t-shirt and soccer ball). Register online at ww.challengersports.com by May 2 and receive a free soccer jersey.
Fall youth sports
Registration for fall sports with the Clayton Parks and Recreation Department is now open. Fall sports are co-ed soccer (ages 4-7), softball (ages 7-14) and girls volleyball (ages 9-14). The fee is $25-60 per player. Register at the Clayton Community Center.
The Clayton Parks Dept. is always looking for volunteers. Opportunities include park beautification, special events and work in our community garden. A Multi-sport camp featuring flag football, baseball/T-ball, basketball and soccer will be held for two sessions (July 14-18 and Aug. 18-22) at the Clayton Community Center. Camp runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily. This Sports Camp is for beginners, intermediate and slightly advanced athletes. These five days of camp will teach and expose an aspiring athlete to fundamental knowledge of the area’s most popular sports. Also, the camp will teach cross training activities and personal fitness exercises to best prepare your athlete for their upcoming sports seasons. Challenger Sports Soccer Camp
A Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp will be held June 23-27 at East Clayton Community Park. Camp is offered in different sessions and age groups from ages 3-14. Half-day, full-day, 90-minute and 60-minute options are available. Fees range from $94-195. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily tournament. The Challenger coaching staff provides players with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. Line dancing classes
Line dancing classes for ages 18 and older will be held from June 21 until July 26 in Clayton. This beginners soul line dance course will teach all the basics of several popular line dances in a fun envoriment. The weekly 55-minute classes are at 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays and the fee is $20-35.
