Clayton rolled by Greater Neuse River 4A Conference rival Harnett Central 7-1 in the opening round of the NCSHAA 4A girls soccer playoffs on Wednesday. Kaylee Wilson and Janelle Reid had two goals each for the Comets in the victory.
Sarah Rebbeor assisted on two Clayton goals.
White Oak hands Pirates their first loss: Corinth Holders had two answers for Jacksonville White Oak, but didn’t have the deciding third. The Vikings eliminated the Pirates from the NCSHAA 3A soccer playoffs Wednesday with a 3-2 overtime victory.
Corinth Holders finishes the season with a 15-1 mark.
Kayla Boudreau scored twice for White Oak, which finished in the middle of the brutally deep Coastal 3A Conference standings.
The Pirates will lose only two – but two very important players to graduation – forward Allie O’Hara and midfielder Bella Iorio.
Princeton rolls by North Duplin: Princeton downed North Duplin 8-0 in the 1A girls soccer playoffs on Wednesday. Peyton Whitley, Madison Adkins and Chelsea Hawley scored two goals each for the Bulldogs (16-3).
Jessica Brush had three assists on the night.
West Johnston, Neuse Charter bow out: Fayetteville Jack Britt defeated West Johnston 3-0 on Wednesday in the 4A playoffs. The Wildcats finished the season 12-7.
In another 1A playoff game, East Carteret downed Neuse Charter, 9-0.
Orange blanks Cleveland: Cleveland fell to Hillsborough Orange 4-0 in the 3A soccer playoffs on Wednesday. The Rams finished the season with a 6-10-1 mark.
The Rams lose three seniors – Sydney Mayall, Katelyn Lowery and Brittany Preston – to graduation.
Currituck County stops North Johnston: Currituck County blanked North Johnston 5-0 in the NCHSAA 1A soccer playoffs on Wednesday.
North Johnston junior keeper Morgan Foster made eight saves in the loss. The Panthers finished the season 7-11-2 and lose only Samantha Richardson, Kasey Winstead and Morgan Townsend to graduation.
