High School: Smithfield-Selma
Why Dean? “Coach (Grahm) Smith got ahold of my tape and thought I was somebody that could help them. I like the kind of program they have there, a regional championship team that is building a winning tradition. It’s a great opportunity to go play. They’re losing four of their top six scorers from this past season.”
Major: Sports Fitness
Never miss a local story.
Notable: Diamond was a four-year starter for the Spartans and she will play point guard for the Bulldogs. … Dean is located in Franklin, Mass. … Diamond wants to improve her ball-handling with her left hand and her ability to shoot step back jumpers. Defensive work is always something that can get better she said. … “My team was so great to play with all four years,” Diamond said. “They really helped me develop as a basketball player and a leader. I’ll always remember them.” … Her most memorable game at SSS was the Spartans’ comeback against Corinth Holders.
Smithfield-Selma coach William Sanders: “We put Diamond right in the heat of it from the start of her freshman year and she responded, took us on her back. She’s a great leader on and off the court and somebody that’s super to work with as a coach or a teammate.”
