Stephenson wins Bojangles Junior Open
Four Oaks’ Patrick Stephenson won the Triangle Youth Golf Association’s Bojangles Junior Open on June 7 at Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill. Stephenson finished at 5-under-par, 139 for the 36-hole, two-day event. He won by five strokes.
The South Johnston High student made 10 consecutive pars to open the tournament, then had five birdies in the second round.
“I was just hitting my wedges really close,” Stephenson said. “I just happened to make some birdies instead of pars.”
Matthew Hayes of Clayton finished tied for 27th.
